Fellowship for University Student “Upclose and personal with Journalism”

Objective

  1. Increasing journalist and student press understanding on Data Driven Journalism
  2. Encouraging Indonesian media newsroom to support better stories of science
  3. Increasing student understanding on journalism and news room work
  4. Increasing journalist capacity in covering science issues

 

Participant

There will be 20 persons of university student from all over Indonesia (5 of them from Jabodetabek area) become participants.

 

The selection process of participants will use some criteria, below:

  • Their reason to follow this program
  • Their journalism work sample as experience
  • Their follow up planning after the program

Implementation Plan

This fellowship program will be run for 8 days. There will be four section that wil be follow by the fellows, below:

  1. Two days Journalism basic training
  2. Three days internship at media newsroom
  3. One and half days seminar at World Press Freedom Day 2017
  4. Half days final wrap up at British Council

 

During the program all the fellows will be supervise by mentors from AJI. Mentors will help them to wrap up every lesson learn that they get in this program.

 

At the end of this program, the participants will be require to arrange their short report about their participations in this program including lesson learn and best practice that they have get. We also will select the best participants. It will determine by mentors and committee, based on their engagement, participation, and some output that they produced during this program (story, photo, article published).

 

We also will produce a video profile program documentation to be publish through social media as a part of lesson learn.
